The Dying Art of Human Connection and Random Kindness

In the 1st time in maybe what feels like forever - this is NOT a Design post here in my blog world.

I feel the need to say and do something important.

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of work/life/chaos as I have been dealing with many levels of reality. Meaning: LIFE IS HAPPENING. It's been hitting me with several "WTF" moments at an alarming pace almost daily and I should be wearing a flack jacket for all the #*@* coming my way. My grandmother (Baba) has recently been hospitalized and has exceeded the level of care they can provide for her at the care home she was residing in. This next step of life (meaning = end of life) is one I have always been afraid of - and - I wish I could go back and be a little girl again.

I just want to make pretty things - even if nobody cares. Even if they are more passionate about the whitening brightening power of their toothpaste. Or if they are in to binge-watching horrible drivel on Netflix for hours of their life. I just want people to do whatever makes them happy.

The sad truth is - lately this world has been more bent on showing how awful someone else is...than by shining their own light.

So I'm here to *@! shit up (as my hip kids would say!)

As a rebellious Random Act of Kindness - I am giving away a BRAND SPANKING NEW
May 2017 Kit of the month from Unity (which was sent to me by mistake)

And now - I want to give it to someone. Someone who really needs something to brighten their day -and I am TOTALLY paying the shipping so even if you live in some far away universe and really dig making crafty things - you defintiely  deserve to win this!
 SO here is the catch...

1. I want you to comment here so I know you read this entire post - and tell me I am not completely crazy for just wanting people to be a little kinder. We are all trying!

2.  Next - Make a card. Seriously. Make one. And send it to a friend. Hell, send it to an enemy. (but try to be nice, haha) You can even send it to a damn stranger by looking up a totally random name/address in a good old fashioned phone book (you may have to find one in a museum) I hope they don't call the police and have you committed.

Now I am not waiting forever to choose - so you literally have until Sunday June 4th at 9 AM CST to at least let me know you stopped by. Spread the random kindness on your own :)

Crazy 4 Challenges/Can You Case It

Hello everyone!

This week is bittersweet for me here, over on the blog - as the spring is finally heading in to warmer weather it means the golf resort is open again - and my weekends of freedom will soon come to an end! I always look forward to this time of year - but sadly, I must say goodbye to other loves.
This will be my last post as a DT member for the Can You Case It Challenge team. With my even busier schedule I can only commit to playing with the challenges on a casual basis. This hurts my heart :(

I decided this week to combine two challenges in to one - as the Crazy for Challenges girls have a wonderful color challenge happening, and my Can You Case It team has a wonderful sketch!
Here is my design!

Over at C4C - someone special is celebrating a May birthday - emerald green is the focus this week!

Stampin Up has a new Annual catalog debuting June 1st and I combined new items with some faves that are going to be carried over for another year!

Stamps: Sunshine Sayings, Garden in Bloom, Touches of Texture
Ink: Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Versamark
Paper: Tranquil Tide CS, Eastern Palace DSP, Designer Vellum (CTMH)
Gold embossing powder/ribbon

I am SO thrilled with some of the new catalog items - I am sure you will be too!

Thanks for stopping in!

Savvy 7-April Showers

Hello everyone!

I have a pretty card to share with you that I made for the Savvy 7 Blog Hop!

This month, we are designing our projects around the theme "April Showers/May Flowers"

Well, I skipped the flowers this time :)

I needed to create a little "pick-me-up" for someone who could use a lift, and I thought this sentiment and image from Stampin Up!'s Beautiful You stamp set was perfect. I was happy to find out that it was not retiring - there are so many ways you can use it,  it really is a versatile stamp set!
I also added a bit of embossing with a folder from Taylored Expressions. I really kept this card simple, and that watercolour with my Zigs was quick and easy.

Be sure to check out all of the hoppers with the Savvy 7 !

Atlantic Hearts #210

Happy Monday!

Today I am designing for Atlantic Hearts - and we have another fabulous sketch for you to play with!

I decided to flip the sketch and I used an awesome stamp from Unity called Let's Get Sip Faced - the Versamark ink on the Kraft cardstock really turned out more subtle than I had hoped but the card kinda grew on me ;)

Don't forget to play along with us this week - and be sure to leave me some love below to let me know you stopped by!

Growing In Unity Blog Hop

Hi Unity Friends! I am so happy you stopped by!

I was SO excited to find out that this month the GIU gals from February would get to play along one more time together with a Blog Hop - and I am the last stop - thanks for sticking around!

For my project, I knew I wanted to create a sweet little Mother's Day card, as it is just around the corner - and I have the perfect little Mama I need to send this to  :)

I inked up the image from the Spring Unity kit designed by the uber-talented Heather Rolin, and decided to pair it with a sentiment from the set Another Name For Love. ( I just love how the 1000's of Unity stamps can mix and match to create something 'just right'!)
You totally need them! Get them here!

If this is where you are beginning - be sure to stop at every blog along the way and leave some love to let us know you dropped in - you could be a lucky winner of some crafty goodness!

You likely found your way here via Brianna's blog - but if you want to go back and double-check everyone's awesomeness here is the blog list !

Atlantic Hearts #208

This week Atlantic Hearts has another great sketch to play with!

Nothing says spring more than soft little "pussy willows". This amazing stamp from Power Poppy called 'Winter Pick-Me-Up' was perfect! I colored the image with my Zigs and found some paper from both Simple Stories and Echo Park that seemed to work perfectly! My oval CS was cut with the SU Stitched Oval die. A little bit of brown ribbon and linen thread finished it all off!

Be sure to link up your project and play along with us - this sketch is great!

Thinking Spring -with Power Poppy and Mix It Up!

Hello everyone!
It's my second blog post of the day - I am quite sure you are sick of me spamming your Bloglovin' but I HAVE to share this wonderful card and announcement.

Beginning next month, there will be a new challenge blog on the block ;)

It is going to be FABULOUS! So be sure to follow the blog and play along with us!
We decided to have a little fun before we go "official" - so we are offering up a little "Just For Fun" challenge to get the ball rolling! This challenge is open until April 30th - so play along and show us your stuff ;)
Here's my Design Team inspiration!

I decided to play with the Power Poppy Power & Spark challenge as well - as I have recently found their beautiful floral stamps - and I am hooked!
They have 3 great sketches to choose from!

I heat embossed this amazing lilac image from the Lilac Time clear stamp set, and used the smaller image and sentiment from it as well!
A little splash of color from my Zigs on the vellum was quick and simple.
I had some MFT dies out on my table from a previous project so I decided to use those one more time before they got put away!

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ology: Icing

I had some play time today up in my studio - and I had so many choices of crafty goodies to play with, so I grabbed some Unity for a quick card using the CASology challenge this week - ICING!

I broke out an old favourite from Unity Stamps, called Everyday Celebration and just added a pop of color with my Zigs. That sweet little scalloped edge detail is courtesy of the Tailored Stitches die from Poppy stamps. I thought that  little cupcake needed some 'icing' and found some liquid appliqué  to add to it for some dimension - it looks good enough to eat ;) A few sequins from Neat and Tangled finished this little creation off!

Crazy 4 Challenges-Wild About You

Welcome back!

This week over with the 'Crazies' we are going WILD!

Today is Zoo Lovers Day - so we are featuring projects that use animals - wild or not :)

I had a lot of fun with this!

I had a few ideas in mind for the stamp I wanted to use - and with most of the world awaiting the birth of April the Giraffe 's new baby - I knew I HAD to go with this adorable stamp!

I also spotted an idea on Pinterest using an all-white background - here are the details !

Stamp: (MFT) Sweet Safari
Ink: Black Archival
Paper: (SU)Whisper White CS, (Recollections) Embossed CS,
Bristol Smooth, Basic Black CS

I used my Zigs to color this cutie, and then my Brother Scan N' Cut did the hard work and cut this out for me. I popped it up a bit with some pop dots, and also added some Nuvo drops to my design.

Be sure to add your creativity to our challenge this week - play along! The Crazy 4 Challenge blog can be found here

Just For Fun!

It's me again!
Sundays are always bittersweet - its my day before I start another work week, and I try to get organized. Sundays are also the day I work on my various Design Team projects, and a lot of the time, it is productive! Today, I was actually ahead (can you believe it?!)
So I decided to play - just for fun!

I had a mountain of scraps from various projects that has been sitting on my desk - I HATE wasting! It really is a struggle for me to throw anything away - and I try to salvage any pieces that *might* work for a project! Today I created this fun card with a few things that were just hanging around.

I had a few scraps of Crate Paper's Hello Love gorgeous paper still sitting in a pile from a previous project - and this time they paired beautifully with my Bamboo Rose stamp set from Altenew! (I apologize of I over-use that stamp set lately...but gosh... I am in LoVe with it!) I adhered it to a Whisper White CS base that I had sitting in my scrap been for what seems like a hundred years. I had used a scallop punch to create the edge ....annnnd then decided "nope". HAHA
The Verve sentiment was heat embossed on black CS, and I popped it up a bit using dimensionals.
I love how I managed to create something using what I had thought was just heading to the garbage bin!
My friend and fellow DTM, Rose Packer did exactly the same thing today, coincidentally, in order to create her card for this week's  Can You Case It challenge! I guess great minds think alike!
Go and check out her card here

That's all for today. (I promise!) Thanks so much for joining me.

I'm Here For You-CYCI #150

Hello friends!

This week has been very busy, to say the least - and I feel like I have been just counting the days till the weekend! But now that it has arrived I am actually even busier, as today I am helping to organize a Trade Show at a hall down the street - I really wish I had a 3-day weekend!

Our Can You Case It challenge this week is a wonderful and unique color combo - courtesy of Kevin!

I honestly struggled with visualizing these colors together and dreaming up a design - but I came up with something I was happy with - and here are all the ingredients ;)

Stamps: (SU) Weather Together, Awesomely Artistic
Ink: (SU) Dapper Denim, Sahara Sand, (TH Distress) Shabby Shutters, Versamark
Paper:(SU) Dapper Denim CS, Vellum, Watercolor paper, (Spellbinder) Copper Sheet

I LOVE my Aqua painters - because they allow such control when adding color just where you need it - and painting those delicate flowers was a lot of fun with it!

Now it is your turn to get inky and join us! Head over to our challenge page!

Thanks for stopping by - and, be sure to leave me some love to let me know you dropped in!
